English poet Geoffrey Chaucer declared Valentine’s Day a day of romantic celebration with his poem, written in 1375, called “Parliament of Foules”, which speaks of every foul choosing their mate.

Written Valentine’s appeared after 1400.

A poem written in 1415 by Charles, Duke of Orleans, to his wife is one of the oldest Valentine’s that still exists today, at the British Library in London.

Over 145 million cards are exchanged for Valentine’s Day, making it the second largest holiday for card giving.

People spend a ton of money for Valentine’s Day, to the tune of some $18 billion, on candy, flowers, and jewelry! Yikes!
