The Holidays are here and what could be better than enjoying time with your family and friends? Um…drinking a delicious hot cup of fancy coffee while enjoying time with said family and friends of course! It’s easier than you might think to make some of those expensive coffee house style specialty drinks at home. Through much trial and error, I discovered that the secret to replicating those rich & creamy lattes is full fat canned coconut milk. Yes. That was the game changer for this home barista. The great thing about making this awesome coffee add-in is that you can control the sugar content, as this base recipe is naturally nearly sugar free. Want it sweet…use a tablespoon or two of dark brown sugar. Want a caramel mocha?…use a couple tablespoons of rich, natural caramel sauce. How about a peppermint mocha?…use dark brown sugar and natural peppermint extract. Oh, how about a peanut butter cup mocha?…dark brown sugar and 2 Tablespoons creamy natural peanut butter. Yeah, I know, you want one right now. Me too. I hope you enjoy!

Base Recipe

1 Cup Full Fat Coconut Milk, Canned

1 Cup Plant Milk of your choice, I used Unsweetened Cashew Milk

2 Tablespoon Raw Cacao Powder

1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract

Your choice of added flavor and/or dark brown sugar

This will make more than one fancy coffee to enjoy. Share or store the rest in fridge for later!

Open the can of coconut milk, empty into bowl, and whisk smooth. Add all ingredients into a saucepan on stovetop. Heat over medium heat until well combined and about coffee drinking temperature. Combine 2/3 Cup of Mocha Coffee Add-In with 6oz espresso or strong brew coffee. Stir, sip, and enjoy the Holidays!
